BE MINDFUL.

BE THE CHANGE. BE MINDFUL

Progressive Equine Partnerships ask you to enjoy your equines whilst being mindful of your actions and consider the physical and emotional effect of the equine in every interaction. We call this the practice of mindful horsemanship.

What Does it mean to be mindful?

To be mindful means to be conscious or aware of something.

Mindful horsemanship is the practice of paying attention and being aware of what we ask of our equines. It’s about broadening your knowledge to align your actions with your beliefs and values. The aim is to keep your actions in line with your values during every equine interaction.

Knowledge

To be mindful is to learn how your actions or the actions of equipment, affects the horse physically and mentally. Its not just knowing why your actions and equipment have an effect its about understanding how they work, How the horse learns and about the horses needs.

Ethics

To be mindful is to be ethical. The individual’s definition of ethical will vary from person to person. By having knowledge of your actions, you can decide your self if your actions are ethical. At PEP we consider the ethical treatment of equines to be that that causes no pain or fear.

Integrity

To be mindful is to act with integrity. Understand and develop your moral and ethical values and abide by them during every equine encounter. Develop a good understanding of the ego, learn to recognise cognitive dissonance, and try to keep both of these in check.
