Horse Weighbridge North East
Bio
Horse Weighbridge North East is a friendly and professional mobile horse weighbridge and body condition scoring service covering the North East of England.
I work alongside owners and caregivers to assess and monitor their horse's weight and body condition in order to make informed decisions about their day to day management.
I wish to improve the life of all conventionally kept equines by prioritising freedom, forage and friends in every setting. I provide weight management solutions which can work in both traditional and progressive livery yard settings, for owners of varying degrees of confidence or resource, whilst complementing each horse's individual need. I remain proudly independent, and I am not affiliated to any feed company or retailer.
My scales are a relaxed and pressure-free space welcome to equines big or small, having weighed the smallest of miniatures up to the largest of draughts. I tailor my service to suit the client and I have a vast experience in managing laminitic, metabolically compromised and PPID horses. All weights are stored in a secure database to allow trend analysis and informed weight/condition tracking which can really benefit both horse and owner. I am a seasoned data analyst which allows me to really dig into the detail for my clients and celebrate every success.
I also provide grazing muzzle fitting and advice and stock only the best, most ethical grazing muzzles on the market - Thinline Flexbile Filly and The Ultimate Muzzle. My muzzle fitting service is offered only to appropriate clients and only after other avenues have been explored. I do believe that grazing muzzles allow many horses freedom at grass when stabling is the only other option, and therefore I advocate for the correct and appropriate use of these aids for horses needing to be kept at grass. Muzzle fittings are done with the physical and emotional wellbeing of the horse in mind, and an observed in-hand grazing session is part of the muzzle fitting service.
Horse Weighbridge North East is a holistic service and I work happily alongside other professionals in order to get the right outcome for the horse.
My relevant academic background includes:
- Completion of the Dr Kellon NRC Plus Course
- Completion of the PPID/IR Course
- Completion of the Laminitis Warning Signs Hoof Geek Course
- Level 4 Data Analyst
Relevant Additional Experience:
- I have weighed World Champion Banzai Du Loir at Yasmin Ingham's yard in Cheshire which has given me valuable insight into how to keep a top level performance horse healthy.
- I visited the wonderful Gawsworth Track Livery to fully understand how track systems work and benefit the horse, weighing several of their very healthy and happy horses.
- I have weighed a selection of horses at Bransby Horses Rescue and Welfare during a study trip with my friend's at Trickle Net. During this visit we assessed the difference between weight tapes and weigh bridges and had the pleasure of meeting all of the wonderful staff and horses.
- I manage a "laminitis prevention club" alongside a local, well respected veterinary practice where we organise group talks and produce shared material for our members.
- I am a member of the British Grassland Society, with access to scientific journals on Grass and Forage science.
- I am a member of the Equine Cushing's and Insulin Resistance group.

Kelly has been weighing my horses for some years now. Her sound advice and support with the management of a fence-smashing, grazing-muzzle destroying laminitis-prone pony who goes nuts if stabled too long has been invaluable. Realistic goals, and steady encouragement have been so much appreciated, and his weight has responded. Kelly is adored by the dogs here too. She’s always professional, cheerful and travels long distances, still keeping to the appointment times, and giving updates on the rare occasions she runs a little late or early.

Kelly comes regularly to our yard to weigh the horses. She will come for just one horse or a group. We use Horseweighbridge NE because we’ve all been really satisfied with the advice we get from Kelly which is practical and non judgemental. Kelly understands that weight management is difficult and depends on many factors. Her Facebook page has good advice as well. A very reasonable price for an excellent service and because Kelly is not affiliated to a feed company, she can give unbiased advice on the best feedling regime for your pony.
